the illusion of memory, part two

[At this time, there are too many parallels between

this sci-fi superhero story

that I can’t stop untangling in my brain

and the world right now.

This is the best way I know to shed light

and share love,

so come along for the journey

if you wish

and

maybe it will help restore hope in your heart, too.]

So without further ado, we jump back into —

The story of our boy and girl who remember

what others cannot.

Because, see, they live in a world where

Memory is fixed for them, but

Elastic for everyone else

And when memory is elastic,

evasive,

elusive and exclusive,

When memory comes in

disposable figments

and

delicate filaments, in

disparate fragments,

fleeting

fluttering

flimsy

flickering in and out

like fireflies that slip through your fingers,

The truth becomes distorted

misaligned and manipulated

re-crafted and re-drafted

so easily redacted

impulsively refracted

and

imperceptibly changed.

Because

When there is only one version of reality that exists,

But multiple interpretations of it,

Who do you believe?

Who can you believe?

And maybe those in power…

those hungry and salivating for power,

They recognize and realize that the only way to ascend

to power and

preserve their power

is

to control the narrative.

To prey on the people’s susceptibility to forget

And their eagerness to accept,

Because

If the truth can set people free,

they will do anything to keep them in the dark.

Why do our boy and girl have this superpower

with their super-memory?

Why are they immune?

Well, that’s what they have to find out…

And

This is the story of how:

The one thing that alienates these two people in the world

from everyone else,

The one thing that makes them different

is what brings them together.

And what they discover…

could be the key to toppling the authority.

Because, unlike everyone else,

they remember a time when

there was joy instead of the mundane.

Spontaneity instead of the monotony.

Vibrant Heightened Emotions

Rich Thoughts Senses

for all.

A world where people stood out instead of blended in.

It’s not their genes,

But this one thing that sets them apart from everyone else,

This distinctive superpower

is the one thing

that bonds

unites

and could threaten to

break them.
